May I use two fonts in a bachelor thesis?

I. d. R. allow the universities each a font for the continuous text and for the headlines to use to emphasize the outline visually better. However, some universities and colleges allow Arial and Times New Roman to combine in a bachelor thesis (sans-serif fonts like Arial lend themselves to headlines).

However, this only applies if your own university has not issued any detailed specifications as to which fonts you have to use. Because of course you will also be graded according to how far you have complied with the requirements of the respective university / university. Even if you choose different fonts for the body text and headings, the font of the body text should also be retained in the footnotes to ensure some consistency.

Conclusion on the choice of the appropriate font

Unless there are clear guidelines, it is up to you to choose a classic, legible font and font size. We advise you not to use exotic fonts. Finally, it is important to select the font that allows the most pleasant reading flow possible.

Even if the author has the free choice in the classical writings in principle, it nevertheless makes sense to obtain the opinion of the responsible examiner. Maybe he or she has a preference for font and font size. If so, it makes sense to use this font in your own scientific work.

After all, it is the supervisor who ultimately grades the bachelor thesis. Although the choice of typeface and font size should not affect the content grading of the paper (in case of missing specifications), some reviewers are somewhat annoyed if you do not implement their suggestions.

As long as the supervisor does not suggest flourishes or comic writing, which definitely have no place in a bachelor thesis or master thesis, you should listen to your supervisor or use a classic font.
