Summer 2017 - Deep within scenic New York State Park, overlooking the Niagara River Gorge, a magnificent celebration of the arts takes place each summer at the historic and picturesque Artpark. Further giving rise in popularity to unique and masterfully placed music venues across the United States, Artpark marks the opening of its 43rd season by proudly unveiling a robust summer concert series. Expanding out from their weekly Tuesday night concert events, this year’s marquee will feature performances from Ziggy Marley, Blink 182, Dwight Yoakam, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blondie & Garbage, + many other incredible activations culminating with a visually stunning season finale showcasing William Close and the Earth Harp Collective.

Touted by U.S. News as one of the 9 Amazing Outdoor U.S. Music Venues to Cross Off Your Bucket List, Artpark has evolved since it’s doors opened over 40 years ago into one of North America’s most innovative summer venues having played host to countless award-winning concerts, workshops, camps, and creative experiences. From Broadway musical productions, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performances, and concerts in the Mainstage Theater; the Outdoor Amphitheater is home to award winning concert series featuring popular rock and pop performers.

This year will be no exception as Artpark’s summer concert series currently includes 15 concerts on schedule throughout June, July, and August. Artpark NY will wrap its 2017 season in September with the highly-anticipated Big Bang with a one time stateside spectacle performance by famous French street theater company Plasticiens Volants and their extraordinary flying inflatable creatures + puppets manipulated from the ground, alongside the ethereal William Close and the Earth Harp Collective. Having toured coveted festivals across the globe, it’s only fitting that William Close will bring the Earth Harp and it’s 1,000 feet length of musical strings to the celestial grounds of Artpark for an intimate show, against the stunning natural backdrop of New York State Park and blending sounds of Niagara Falls nearby rushing water.

Revellers at Artpark not only enjoy world-class performances against upstate New York’s most idyllic setting, but also relax surrounded by lush trees, discover immersive art installations scattered throughout the 150 acre open-air complex and explore the vibrant revitalization of New York’s performing and visual art community. Beyond the musical offerings lies incredible experiences for everyone to enjoy, including weekly art camps and Free Family Saturdays with a rotating selection of exhibits and activities. Budding thespians can participate in the Artpark Theater Academy, a Broadway Jr. Program that culminates with a mainstage theater production of Fiddler on the Roof on August 6th. Beginning on July 10, the performance will be designed, rehearsed, and performed by the Academy company students, providing them a first-hand taste of the professional theater business and performing at a professional venue.

Draw, paint and craft your way through the summer, Artpark offers morning and afternoon art camps for families, led by locally-celebrated guest artists: Richard Tomasello, Chuck Tingley, Brian Nacov, Leeann Catanzaro, Ani Hoover + more TBA! During camp attendees will be able to learn from masters of fine arts and hone in on creating large-scale murals, kinetic sculptures, ceramics and even have the opportunity to take part in the art of puppetry. Registration for Artpark’s Art Camp 2017 is open now!

Encompassing community and creativity, New York aims to bring the “art” back into Artpark by taking the finest in performing & visual arts and make them accessible to everybody, fostering an understanding and awareness of the many and varied forms of art and its creators. Since its inception, it has served as an active prototype for a truly public art and music forum and looks to potentially host larger collaborations such as music festivals leading into the future.
